Since January 2022, dhauz has maintained a strategic partnership with the Federal University of Paraíba (UFPB), strengthening the connection and exchange of experiences with students primarily from the fields of Computer Science, Data Science, Production Engineering, and Statistics.
The initiative is led by partner Matheus Silva, alongside UFPB professor Anand Subramanian — who have academic ties dating back to 2009, when Matheus pursued a master’s degree at the Federal Fluminense University (UFF), focusing on Combinatorial Optimization and Artificial Intelligence.
The core of this partnership is the opportunity for paid internships at dhauz, where students have the chance to experience the corporate environment, interacting closely with team members and clients.
The interns’ work and training routine includes activities that allow the practical application of theoretical and academic knowledge to the real-world challenges of dhauz projects.
Research and Development Partnership
Additionally, the partnership supports the Research and Development program for specific client needs. This involves developing innovative solutions that begin even before a dhauz project is commercially implemented.
A distinguishing aspect of this program is the ongoing involvement of professor Anand, a respected academic in analytical approaches. Furthermore, the partnership contributes to improving the university’s infrastructure, filling gaps in its departments and strengthening its resources.
This collaborative effort generates numerous benefits for both sides. The exchange of knowledge, the development of talent in a real working environment, and the creation of innovative solutions in data science and artificial intelligence are the pillars that sustain this partnership.
Opportunities for Students in the Northeast
“With the internship program, dhauz benefits from access to an excellent talent pool,” Matheus explains. He notes that UFPB students bring an innovative perspective, helping the company tackle complex challenges and stay at the forefront of technology.
In addition, the collaboration allows students from Brazil’s Northeast region, who are geographically distant from many economic hubs, to gain experience and work opportunities with companies located in other states.
This close connection between regions reflects how we worked during the pandemic — a model that dhauz intentionally continues to follow, and one that also reinforces the company’s commitment to attracting talent from all parts of the country. Currently, all nine interns at dhauz are UFPB students and, in Matheus’s words, “they have responded exceptionally well to our daily challenges.”
